Hospitality · fifteen years

Running places

Talad Noi and Songwat Road, Bangkok, from the pass to the front door. Moved ordering and payment from paper to QR at the table, and saw how much of a venue’s knowledge lives in people’s heads.

Symbious™

A chip, a tap by the person who is there, and a record that links to the one before it. It keeps what a place usually forgets.

● Hinge: where one purpose turns into the next

The idea

A threshold is where a place changes purpose.

You cannot see it on a plan, but every venue has them. They are where things go wrong, and where almost nothing is written down.

Symbious™

Operational memory for the built environment.

Each chip sits at a threshold. A person taps it, answers up to three yes/no questions, and the moment is recorded. It works without AI, and a venue gets value from the first day.

The record is about places and moments, never people. That rule is written into the Concordat, ten prohibitions published to the public domain. Two test sites run in Bangkok: a restaurant and a leather atelier.
